If a disabled (autistic) person with a gross income of $600.00 per month who co-signed for a car for another person and that person defaulted on the loan can the disabled person be held responsible and have their income garnished?

It will depend on whether the disabled person is legally competent to enter into a contract and understand what s/he is doing at the time the contract is created and the legal consequences of his/her action.

The issue of wage garnishment is something different. Is the money disability payments from social security? If so, it may be exempt from creditor's.

In either event, you should act quickly to avoid unneccessary complications from waiting too long.
