Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

satisfaction of judgment removal

I had a small claims case where I lost and paid the judgment immediately. The plaintiff never filed a satisfaction of judgment. Do I have any legal recourse on this person since they have effectively ruined my credit until the satisfaction is recorded I have been turned down for a line of credit and a home refinance hangs in the lurch while I try to track this party down and force them or beg them to file the paper? This has been going on for 4 years.

Re: satisfaction of judgment removal

you can have an attorney file a motion in court to have the court declare the judgment satisfied and they will make the other party pay the attorney fees.
