Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My 19 year boyfriend is in jail because he lost trail. The judge gave him 2 felonies burglary(commercial) and posestion of stolen items..Hes never been in trouble with the law before, and has been in jail for 36 days.he goes to court this friday for sentencing.probation department told him not to lose any sleep over prison time.but i was wondering if the judge has the power to sentence him up to 90 days or 60 days work project?? In the state of california...any help would be great thanks!!

ps are there any numbers i can call to find out more info??

It sounds like the probation department is recommending probation, not prison. As a condition of probation, the judge could order him to serve up to a year in jail. There is also a possibility that the judge could disagree with the probation report and send him to prison, anyway.

As I said in a response to your previous post, your boyfriend's lawyer is in a much better position to answer questions about his case.
