Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I have an felony on my record that is 10-13 years old. Is there a way to have it reduced or removed from my record. I'm going back to work and I know they do back ground checks. I know having a felony will be hard finding someone that will hire me.

A felony conviction can often, but not always, be reduced to a misdemeanor and expunged from your record so you can deny that you had the conviction in an application for most jobs. Many factors determine what kind of procedures you can use to improve your criminal record for background checks. A consultation with a criminal lawyer experienced in post-conviction matters can be helpful. Most criminal lawyers give free consultations. Many convictions can be 'expunged' by proper application and Motion to the court, but only if there was no prison time served or even sentenced, if it was not for certain sex and DV crimes, if you completed all terms of probation, and if you have no new charges pending. If successful, the conviction would be retroactively withdrawn and the charges dismissed. That does not 'remove' the conviction, but merely changes the record to show 'conviction reversed and dismissed by expungement'. If expunged, you would be able to say 'no' to conviction on most employment applications. If youre serious about doing so, and you think you qualify, feel free to contact me for the legal help you'll need.
