Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

i am on 3 years formal probation, i have only seen my probation officer twice and i have not been required to see her since. my 3 years of probation will be up in 4 months, i have not had any violations since being released in 07, but in november of 09 someone crashed into my car, i didnt have insurance at the time, we waited for chp to show but they never came, today i get a call saying if i dont show proof of insurance, my license may be suspended for a year, i have insurance now tho, but can it be a violation of probation if no police were involved at the time??

What do you mean, you "get a call"? From whom and why? Yes, your license could be suspended if you did not have insurance and also if you did not send in form SR-1 after the accident.

It is against the law, but it is not a crime, to drive without insurance. Driving without insurance might be, or might not be, a violation of the terms of your probation. If so, they might, or might not, find out about the DMV license suspension.

If they find out, they might, or might not, care enough to violate you. It's anybody's guess.
