Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Allowable Sentence?

I was charged with 1.Possession for sales of a controlled substance 2.child endangerment(my son was with me)3.Resisting arrest(for not opening the door to officers

I plead guilty to simple possession and the other two counts were dropped.

I was given probation and as a condition, that I had to serve 90 days in jail and take 52 weeks of parenting classes even though the child endangerment charge was dropped. Can the court make me do parenting classes if the child endangerment charge was dismissed?

Re: Allowable Sentence?

Yes, given the facts and given that you accepted this obligation as part of the deal that spared you a longer term behind bars. If you want the state to live up to its end of the deal you have to live up to yours.
