breaking up a fight

my boyfriend saw a fight and split it up. he has never been in trouble before. now he is getting blamed for the injuries done to a guy in the hospital. the guy is in a coma. People around town are all saying that my boyfriend put him in the hospital but the guy was fighting with some other guy when he got there. can he get in trouble for this?

Your question is pretty vague about what your boyfriend did. It is possible that he inflicted the injury that left the victim comatose. If he did, he may very well be liable. The fact that the victim was already fighting someone else when your boyfriend arrived does not insulate your boyfriend from the legal consequences of his own actions.
