Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I got charged with "hit and run" for supposedly backing into a parked car... My vehicle didn't touch the other car... My court date is a month away. The other party filed an insurance claim and sent a picture of previous damage on their vehicle. My insurance company (whose offices are out of state) did no investigation. They simply looked at the photo and said, "sure, well pay for that." They want me to accept the claim, which is small and wont effect my premium. But my question is, how will it look when I go to court to fight my charge? Is accepting the claim going to make me look guilty and therefore be charged with the "hit and run"... Or will accepting the claim help resolve the charge?

In my 27 years of handling cases like this, the prosecutor doesn't know what happened in the insurance arena, unless we want to tell the prosecutor, if we feel it helps our client. You need to have an experienced attorney go over all the facts with you.......David Wallin
