my wifes parents have asked me to file a false report against there grandchildrens father saying that i saw him molesting there grand kids. My wife has also asked me to file the report and she is a teacher. I am not going to do it but feel that I should report it to the proper authorties. what are the ramifications of this to my in-laws and my wife, I have this on a recording

Re: false child endangerment report

As long as nobody files a false report with police or courts, there are no criminal violations. The minute they do, they subject themselves to various charges in civil and criminal court.

You're not going to get 'legal advice' on this site, but a 'handy hint' would be to make clear to them your willingness to report the attempted fraud if they try it. If this is part of a messy divorce, as it sounds, you could submit a sworn declaration into that court case through the other side's attorney [he'd be happy to hear your story], laying out the facts, before they actually do the innocent man irreparable harm to his case and reputation. You would be well advised to have an attorney help you, to avoid doing something that would involve you in the fraud, or get you in trouble. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing so.
