Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

The family i work for had gotten approved for IHSS, They have asked me to claim all hours for April 2011 til now, the back pay check will be coming in my name. If i was to keep the check can i go to jail if i was to make this action? Or what could they do to me?

The reason that I point this out is because these questions are posted to lawyers who specialize in these areas. You may be better off posting your question in labor law, or even health care law.

My understanding is that IHSS is In Home Supportive Services. IHSS is part of the Department of Social Services, that provides in home care for someone who is over 65, blind, or disabled. This also includes disabled children. I understand that you do not want to get into trouble, so my advice to you (in addition to reposting in a better category) is to not misrepresent the number of hours or the time you have provided service.
