Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Illegal detainment

Another nurse in the hospital I work at followed me into the locker room and prevented me from exciting by standing in front of the door and refusing to move or open it. She said ''I'm not done with you yet''. She was attempting to argue with me about past issues. Is what she did illegal and do I need witnesses.

Re: Illegal detainment

THe facts you stated could constitute the civil tort of "false imprisonment." While this is also a crime, it's unlikely the police would become interested, or that a civil case would go anywhere, unless you had witnesses or other proof; and evidence of damages such as being confined for a prolonged period, or injured in some way.
