Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Med marijuana traveling

I travel from CA to NV often. Do I need to get a Med card from both states or can I have one card for both?

Re: Med marijuana traveling

Very good question. The question is whether Nevada, being a medical marijuana state, would honor your CA med card. While I honestly do not know the answer off the top of my head, (could find out with a little bit of research) I think the resounding answer is that you should get a Nevada card. Imagine being pulled over by a Nevada cop who wants to make life difficult for you, even arrest you, because you only have a California card. Even if the cop is wrong, not having a Nevada card can certainly cost you.

Be aware of different marijuana amount limitations under Nevada and California medical marijuana laws.

Hope this helps.

I generally agree with Mr. Lentz, with one very serious caveat -- I don't know whether Nevada allows medical marijuana use like California does. Most states don't. Those that don't will neither issue their own permits nor recognize permits from other states.

The short answer is both states, however I suggest you contact a Nevada attorney first.
