Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My original question was:

My elerly uncle and I have a joint bank account. He still drives and I am wondering if he gets in a really bad accident and gets sued, can lawyers go after my assets as well.

The response from Lawguru was:

That joint account is HIS asset as well as yours, and it can be levied upon with a judgment.

What I need to know is, since my name is linked to him on this account, and he is sued for more than he has in assets, then are my assets outside of this account in danger of being levied.

Only those assets on which his name shows are subject to levy.

Mr. Nelson is correct. Just because you and he are linked together on one account does not make you subject to his liability issues. However, if I were the attorney on the other side I would start checking to make sure that is the only account or asset with his name on it.
