How do I counter charge a man who's over 18 whom put his hands on my son? But at this time the DA is trying to charge my son w/ battery?

YOU don't do anything. Your son could try to file criminal charges, but likely would not succeed if the police and DA already charged him. Your son should focus on defending against the criminal charges, using whatever defenses he has. Feel free to contact me if serious about getting him legal defense, if the case is in SoCal.
