Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I had a Stroke in December of last year, it leaves me at times forgetting things , where I am at what is going on around me I don"t drive anymore I am only 55 I was in Target and went to the ATM to check on the balance in my Checking and Savings as I am looking at it I am walking with my cart I got half way through the first set of doors was grabbed thrown on a wall with my arm twisted and said I was shop lifting they said they had a picture of me before which they showed me a picture and wanted me to admit it was me I was not about to do no such thing I explained I was not paying attention as I was walking I had plenty of money to pay for what was in my cart it came to 173 Dollars I have never been in trouble with the law in my life not even a ticket I was taken to jail booked finger printed pictures taken what do you think is going to happen to me in court I go in two days???

You area going to be arraigned, at which time the only response you are to give is a plea of 'not guilty'. do NOT talk to police, court personnel or ANYONE about the case except with and through an attorney. Requesst a 'pre trial hearing' date, and take an attorney with you to that hearing. Listen to his advice once he learns all the facts and allegations against you. If you have no prior record, he may even be able to obtain a 'deal' that includes no conviction on your record.
