Legal Question in Elder Law in California
Who is really responsible?
My grandmother is being cared for by her son whom is not giving her proper care. Social services, Hospice, and APS has now stepped in, however have yet to finalize an outcome for this situation. my father and our family have been astranged from my grandmother for many years now due to past issues that have caused the family to part ways. The above individual ( social services etc ) are now contacting my family stating that there is a california law that states we ( my family ) may be responsible for her care and future placement. I need some assistance so that I may understand and move forward and to be proactive in this situation.

Yes, family may become legally responsible [moral and filial obligation is something you have to decide yourself]. Experienced counsel should be able to assist the family in ensuring they are not improperly charged or sued by the agencies. Contact me if interested in obtaining such help.
