Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

Retainer

I worked for a record label for 5

years, never an employee, always On

Retainer and I never signed any type

of contract. During my time, I

videoed bands and created web clips

for their websites...label never asked

for the tapes back...I still have them.

Question is, do i legally own them?

And also, i'd like to create a pay web-

site which feature clips of these

bands that I shot.

Re: Retainer

Answer is "Maybe". you don't provide enough information to give a good answer.

If you plan to exploit these items in any way, though, you'll need written permission from each member of the band, anybody else appearing in the videos, and the publishers who control the rights to the songs.
