Adoption Records

My husband signed papers giving up his rights as a biological father so that another man who was going to marry his ex-girlfriend could adopt my husbands son. He lost all the paper work and the boys is trying to find him now and we were just wondering how do we go about finding a copy of those papers that he signed?
