Legal Question in Family Law in California

Hello, my name is Adrianne. My situation is quite complicated and am really confused. I was in a really bad marriage of 17 years with my husband. We have three kids together. They all reside in Kansas City, Mo. but are all residents of different states. I am in California at the moment. I left almost three years ago. I left due to the fact that he is very violent with me. I came to California to take care of a warrant I had here in California. He said I could go but I couldnt take the kids with me or he would kill me. So when I got out he had another woman pregnant and they continually harrass me not letting me see my kids. Saying they are going to call the cops and have me arrested. They send threatening emails and messages over the internet and I am so severly tired of it. I have been trying to get on my feet as I have been up rooted from what I knew as a family of 17 years. I have been forced to be away from them for over three years now. My middle child wants to come and live with me and I am trying frantically to get her here. He has threatened her that if she were to come live with me she would never be allowed to come back and he would never talk to her...He is psychologically damaging my children. What should I do???? Help!!!!

You are right. You are really confused, starting with the fact that they cannot "all live in Kansas City, MO," and also be "all residents of different states." Without knowing where the children actually reside, there is absolutely nothing more useful that can be said, because the state of residence of the minor children will be the state whose law would apply, and would be the state in which you need to get legal advice and file any legal proceedings that may be needed.

The court where the children currently live is the state where you need to go seek custody and/or visitation. Find an attorney in Kansas City to help you.
