Legal Question in Family Law in California

When does alimony stop

My wife and I were married 21 years when she divorced me. My alimony to her is $300.00 per month. The divorce papers do not state how long I have to pay. All the divorce papers say is that I am to pay her unless she is working full time. We have been divorced now 5 years. I am remarried and she is remarried. How long do I pay her the alimony?

Your obligation to support your ex wife terminated when she remarried.

Re: When does alimony stop

IF YOUR WIFE IS MARRIED THEN SHE IS NOT ENTITLED TO ANY ALIMONY. IN FACT YOU SHOULD HAVE STOPPED PAYING HER ALIMONY AS SOON AS SHE GOT MARRIED. YOU COULD FILE A MOTION REQUESTING TERMINATION OF SPOUSAL SUPPORT (ALIMONY) AND MAY ALSO REQUEST A REIMBURSEMENT.
