Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

I have a daughter who is a little over 3 months now. The father was only determined as of a couple weeks ago by a paternity test. I am going to file for child support, he hasn't even offerred her a thing or asked if we're ok financially, which we're not. Anyways, my question is will they back date to when she was born and he will owe that or is just until when we got the paternity results??

Re: Child Support

The support will probably only apply at the earliest, from the date you file your moving papers. You should also be aware that as soon as you file those papers, the father is likely to look for visitation and/or custody. You should, if you can afford it, retain an attorney to assist you.
