Legal Question in Family Law in California

Custody?

My boyfriend has physical custody and the Mother has monitored visitation. The Monitor is her mother. The grandmother aloud the mother to bring home the child on her own. The Mother rarely see the child and has not been involved in his life for over 6 years since my boyfriend has had him. Can he take her back to court and have her get less time with the child for going against the court order. Also, the have joint legal. How hard would it be to get full legal. He doesnt know where the mother of his child lives and no phone number to contact her. My boyfriend handles all the decissions for the child. Please advise.

He should consult with an attorney. A motion to modify the visitation by changing the supervisor should be made. This motion could also request that he be given sole physical and legal custody. Her poor choices in taking the child for an unsupervised visit and disappearing for a long period may be sufficient to accomplish this change in custody.
