custody

i am trying to find out what challenges there will be with my divorce....i have 2 girls ages 5 and 1 and they live in canada....i am in the middle of starting a business in california...right now it is my intent to keep canada as my home address and fly back and forth to see them. i am very concerned about visitation. i am a U.S citizen , their mother is canadian and they were also born in canada. what can i do to insure i get visitation ??

You will have to deal with the Canadian courts for the child custody and visitation orders. Also try to get the child support set in Canada. The only case I was involved with where there was a Canadian child support order, the support was much lower. Also pay her promptly so that the support case is not sent to California for enforcement, as California will not just issue a wage assignment or take other collection action, they will recalculate the support at the much higher California rate. It would be advisable to check with a California attorney to see which way is the most economical for you.
