Not divorced, but legally separated and purchasing a home

I am legally separated, with a motion to settle filed. There were no community property assets acquired during marriage. I want to purchase a home before divorce in my name only. Do I need a quit claim deed signed from former spouse for purchase to move forward?

Getting a quit claim deed whether or not needed would be prudent, and would reduce the possibility of a future claim from the ex.
