Legal Question in Family Law in California

My ex-husband and I have joint legal custody and he has full physical custody of our son. He has violated the custody agreement by taking our son and going to live in Mexico without my permission. He has been uncooperative and I have not spoken or seen my son in over a year. I would like to file for full custody but how will I serve him if I don't know where he is? Is this considered child abduction? Can I report him to the authorities?

Your child is considered abducted. Please contact your local state and federal authorities concerning filing a criminal report. You should also meet with an experienced family law attorney to determine your legal options on acquiring new court orders for sole legal and physical custody.
