Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was granted half of my x's pension in the divorce papers. They want me to fill out a AUADRO? Do i need a layor?

Normally I would say "no," but considering you don't know what a QDRO (not a AUADRO) and wonder if you need a layor instead of a lawyer, I think you probably should get a lawyer to help you. An improperly done QDRO could cause real problems for you down the line.

It would also make a difference whether the pension is with Calpers or other public entity, because the public entity must be joined before the order will be enforced. In any case, the must QDRO must be properly done to protect your rights.

I suggest getting a lawyer, who is familiary with QDROS. They are complex, and many run of the mill family law attorneys do not even handle them.
