Legal Question in Family Law in California

Income after date of seperation?

Hi,

I have a question about community property income.

I did 1099 work before the date of separation. Chunk change...$300

I was paid after the date of separation.

Is it community property income?

If anyone has advice, It'd be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Income after date of seperation?

If it was earned during the marriage, then it's community property.

Re: Income after date of separation?

Income is categorized based on when it is earned and not when it is paid. Thus, the 1099 work would probably be considered community property.
