Legal Question in Family Law in California

legal separation vs. divorce

Will a legal separation protect me from my husband's future creditors and prospective future law suits?

What happens if he continues living in the house as a renter after a legal separation is granted?

Must all assets be in separate names, ie: checking account?

Is a divorce action more effective to protect me against my spouse's poor financial habits?

We live in California.
