My sons girlfriend is wanting to put their unborn child up for adoption. She lives in California and he is in Washington State. He wants the child.What rights does he have?

If he is the biological father ,he has a right to intervene requesting custody of the child. To expidite the matter and avoid any costly jursdictional fights, he should file a paternity action in the county where the child resides as well as an emergency order requesting custody.

He would need to file a paternity action in California, in the county in which she resides. That would establish his right as father of the child. The child could not be adopted without his consent. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
