Legal Question in Family Law in California

Do we have to split property when we disolve our domestic partnership? We came in with everything separate several years ago and want everything to stay that way.

It would be wise to articulate your separate property in your domestic partnership dissolution judgment. Do not overlook such things as retirement and stock accounts when you identify your separate holdings.

Yes you do. You are free to split it back out the way it came in, but you need and want it spelled out in the final decree so there are no future issues. Also, income during the domestic partnership is shared. So if any assets or savings was accumulated during the partnership, that must be allocated.
