Legal Question in Family Law in California

In a step parent adoption, if we can't "find" the biological father to give consent and submit paperwork saying so, will the courts investigate it themselves to look for him also? If so can we back out of the adoption process so they don't find him? We don't want to find him over legitimate fear of our safety.

The California courts require a full review of the parenting and extended family circumstances to allow for an adoption. Please meet with an experienced family law attorney to explore your legal options.
