Legal Question in Family Law in California

Wife''s Out of Control Debts

My wife and I may decide to go our separate ways, divorce. I have a question about dept. She has purchased two cars without letting me know. One for her and one for her son, my 19yr old stepson . She has also taken on student loans for my step son. His dad has 50% custody. He is an airline mech. and make more than I do. He has not steped up to the plate in regaurding tuition. She has also accumulated credit card debt in her name. If we split, will I have to be responsible for half of all this debt?

Yes the debts will have to be allocated and might be the subject of your litigation. It would help if you can come to agreement on who pays for which debts.

good luck.

As always consult a qualified attorney in your area before proceeding.
