Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

I am a new employee in CA and had to be hospitalized and missed work, can they fire me? I believe I am protected under fmla.

FMLA only applies to employers with 50 or more employees within a 75 mi. radius of your place of work and only if the employee worked for at least one year almost full time. If you qualify, you have up to 12 weeks of unpaid protected leave. If you don't qualify, your employer may not lawfully fire you BECAUSE of a disability or serious med. condition such as cancer, etc.
