Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

relocation contract.

I was working in texas when i got this job in california. Company paid for the relocation. relocation agreement says that I have to pay back company DOLLAR amount, If I leave before 12 months, they spend on relocation. In my pay check i can see relocation as $9600. Do I have to pay them the entire amount? What are my courses of action.

Re: relocation contract.

Don't quit.

If you do, you'll have to face the threat of collection. Get legal help if that happens, it probably can be negotiated into pro rata payment of even waiver; feel free to contact me.

Re: relocation contract.

Hello!

By your question it cannot be ascertained if you still work for the company and for how long. Assuming that you have spent 12 months since the relo, then you apparently owe them nothing.

If you voluntarily quit, WITHOUT HAVING REVIEWED YOUR CONTRACT ITSELF, you are obliged to comply with the contractual terms.

The 12 months is a threshhold, all or none as the Company obviously bargained for your 12 month longevity as they invested in your move, etc.

Good luck

Sincerely,

Mark Geyer
