Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

retreiving property

Hi Terry, I hope you can help me out with this question. My daughter was given a $200.00 pair of sunglasses for her 17th birthday, well 2 days later a girl stole them out of her purse at another friends house. If i see the girl wearing them, do I have the legal right to demand them back? I have receipt with serial #. Thank you, for your time.

Re: retreiving property

Demand all you like, just don't create a criminal disturbance or threats and get arrested. You could sue in small claims court if you have witnesses and proof they are yours.
