Serving the other council?

I am in pro per. Can I serve the other council by mail and personally with documents? If not, can I have a friend serve the other party? Please advise.

Parties cannot serve their own papers re cases being heard in the California state courts. Someone else must do it for them.

Friend: Yes, provided they are an adult and not a party to the action, i.e., not named in the lawsuit.
