Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Vehicle lease problem

About 3 years ago I bought a brand new truck but a few months after buying it I ran into financial problems and could no longer afford it. I found this company online who specialized in finding people who can take over your car payments. 1 month later we found someone, both signed a contract(lease) and went our seperate ways. Everything from that point was going great until the company went out of business but the buyer and I decided to keep going on with the arrangement. I was a little iffy about if but month after month they paid me and everything was working out great. Here is where things start going down hill: 3 months ago(May)they never sent me the monthly payment and they never called to let me know what was going on. When I tried calling them there phone line was disconnected and I also tried emailing them but never get any responses back. I even drove over to the address listed on the contract and it ended up being her sisters house who always would tell me that she has no idea where these people are. 3 months later still nothing and I'm putting money that I really don't have into this vehicle. My question is what steps should I take to locate this person and get my vehicle and money owed to me? Thanks for your help!

Re: Vehicle lease problem

You can report a stolen vehicle if you still retain title on the car, depending upon your rights under the written contract. You're in a serious financial problem since YOU owe the bank and can be sued. Feel free to contact me if you want to consult and determine your rights and remedies.
