Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I work for a wedding venue. A couple who signed an agreement for a 'non-refundable' deposit now wants their deposit of $1,000.00 back because they decided to get married somewhere else. I explained to them that the deposit was non refundable but i would be willing to give some of their deposit back if i was able to re-book the date that they had booked. They are threatening to sue me now. What are my legal concerns?
