Conservatorship

My lifes partner of nine years is in a coma and it doesnt look good! We have 2 children one mine the other mine since day 2 another father! We had a power of att written but not notarized. Now i need to know what to do, I am lost. I know what she wants as far as health care and finances Any help appreciated Ed

See an attorney quickly about a conservatorship--the normal process is about 4-8 weeks, but temporary conservatorship can be granted in the meantime. The attorney can also review any other estate planning matters that may need to be taken care of at the same time.

It's also possible that the health care power of attorney, if witnessed by two persons but not notarized, could be valid. The financial power of attorney usually does require notarization, but in any case, take these powers of attorney to the lawyer for review just in case they're usable.
