Legal Question in Health Care Law in California

A physician recommends that a patient be taken off life support.The patient has not dealt w/ his parents for 10 years, but they want to take him off life support.He has a boyfriend that does not want him off life support knowing that he would want to live.How can the parents prevail over this situation?
