Legal Question in Health Care Law in California

I had requested some lab work done in regards to my health. When I went down to get the work done the Phlebotomist was talking to my son and somehow someway she interpreted him saying that I practice phlebotomy at home on him when I realized what she was accusing me of I got very upset and cursed her out and walked away. The next day I was contacted by the director of my school about the situation. My question is did she have the right to contact my school and make such false accusations. She told the director that I was the one bragging about it and that I had mentioned that I practice on my son and the neighbors kids. What are my rights in this type of situation. Did she violate any patient rights law or confidentiality law. Was she to follow any protocol to these types of situations before jumping to conclusion and defaming my character.
