Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Hello. I am glad to find this website.

I have some questions regarding to filling out the immigration forms.

In the I-765 form (Application For Employment Authorization), the question 11. "Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS?" I was in OPT back to 2008 and did not use up all OPT period, During my OPT period, I did not work and I applied to Ph.D. Now I am still a -F-1 student in PH.D program. currently, I am married. so Do I need to say "yes" for the quesiton 11 even though I did not work during my OPT period.

Second question: My husband is H1b. In I-485 form, there is a A# (Alien Registration Number). which number we need to write. Is the number in I-140 or the number in his EAD card?

Thank you so much

The answer should be clear - if you applied for a work permit. You may want to supply additional details in your application.

Not all non-immigrants have A#. It's possible that you and your husband haven't been assigned A#s yet. You may want to check all your USCIS receipt and approval notices. It's not an EAD number and not an application number, it's an "alien file number".
