Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

My father-in-law is going to be having surgery and has asked me to supervise his car was business while he is in the hospital. Do I assume any liability by doing this? He says he has plenty of insurance, but would this most likely cover me as well since I'm not actually a part of the business or an employee?

Thanks!

It is probably best if you get a limited power of attorney signed, or some other document establishing that you are acting as his agent in dealing with the business. If you are his authorized agent, unless you act outside the scope of that agency, you should be covered by most insurance polices.
