Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Life insurance Policy lapse/reinstatment/death

My estranged husband stopped paying on his life insurance policy. came across a letter stating there was insufficient value to continue the coverage past 2/12/09. He was in an accident on the 15th. I phoned on the 16th to make the payment and was told that I could not make it, he would have to be reinstated and all coverage ceased that day. From what I can understand in my paperwork, I have a 61 day grace period from the date the policy value is less than the cost. We opened the policy 7-07. I mailed the missing payments just in case. My husband died on the 20th. Is he still covered?

Probably, but can't be sure without reviewing the policy. I am curious to know who the carrier is since there are few with 'reputation' of pulling every little dirty trick to avoid paying benefits.
