Can I use ''name brands'' in my book?

Mainly for recommendations and listing

ingredients in a product.

If you are recommending the brands in your book, I am sure they will be happy to give permission provided you give an appropriate courtesy such as "*Gold Medal Flour(R) is a registered trademark of Pillsbury Brands, Inc." or whatever.
