Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

California - We had a landlord (for only 10 days) that committed fraud upon us, never intended to rent the place, harassed and threatened my pregnant wife with violence. She has never returned our security deposit (6 months ago) we have demanded our deposit several times in writing and via text...Can each of us independently sue her for 3x the security deposit?
