Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

co-signor

My daughter wants me to co-sign on her rental. She is responsible but things happen. What are my legal obligations if I do this? How long will I be obligated?

Re: co-signor

Don't do it. You will be obligated for the term of the rental agreement and month-to-month if she stays beyond the stated period. It's never a good idea to cosign for anybody, for obvious reasons. Instead, if she works, have her sign up with her bank for automatic rent payment.
