Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I am current on my rent as january rent was just paid yesterday. i included in the rent check which was a money order all the late fees that i thought I woed totaling an additional 70.00. this morning I received a 30 day letter to vacate because I did not pay 90.00 in late fees. I checked my records and they are right. i do owe the late fees. I mmediately got an additional money order for 90.00 and brought it back to the manager. She slammed the door on me and refused to talk to me. I tried calling her boss and got the same response. i have the moey order and want to personally hand it to them but nobody will talk to me. I had some hard times but things are better now and I am current on my rent. Can they legally evict me for not paying some of the late fees?

.Doesn't sound like paying the late fee is the problem. I assume you are on a month to month which can be terminated on either 30 days notice if you have been there less than a year and 60 days notice if you have been there longer than a year. When they want money from you its a 3 day notice to pay or quit and you do have the option to pay them within that three days all the money they demand. Your notice sounds like a notice to end your tenancy, which they don't need any reason for if you are not in a rent controlled area.

Good luck
