Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I just rented a house 3 months ago. My sister is on the lease as an occupant. One week ago she fell down the stairs and broke her ankle to the point of needing surgery to repair it. The house is in excellent condition and there were no obsticles to initiate the fall. It was just a freak accident. My sister helped me take care of my son, grandmother, and cousin who are all disabled. Now I have the entire burden with her as an additonal patient. Do we have any legal action we can take against the owner or their homeowners insurance?

You're kidding, right? You want to take legal action against someone for no reason whatsoever? Perfectly good house. Nothing about the house had anything to do with causing the fall, and you want to take legal action against the owner. It's people like you and the dirt bag attorneys who take your cases that have made the U.S. tort law system the laughing stock of the world. Sure you can take legal action, make something up to sue about, and probably even get a settlement because it will cost more to try the case than you will ask for. Best of luck sleeping at night.
