Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I submitted my 30 day notice to my landlord today, 1/20. I counted 30 days and assumed that I'd have to pay through 2/19. They told me that it goes by calendar month rather than the actual number of days and that I'd have to pay through 2/20. Which is right?

It is thirty days with the first day being 1/21 so the last day would be 2/19, as you calculated. The law does not say that you must give a month's notice [what would happen if notice were given during February?], it says 30 days.

Mr. Shers is correct unless you have a lease or rental agreement that says otherwise.
